I like The Poetic Link because it appears to be a much more friendly and encouraging site for all kinds of poets. Once when I was feeling down in the dumps because I was going through a personal crisis, I went to another poetry site and posted poetry, which turned out to be a terrible mistake. The people on that other poetry site were totally ruthless and downright cruel in their comments. I don't think they realize how much damage they can do to people they don't even know. There is a positive way to help people write better poetry. I like the rules I learned in public speaking. If you can't say how to fix it, don't mention it at all ... and for every bad thing, look for one nice thing. I think it's important to focus on how to make the poem better. The people on the other site were like attack dogs or school bullies who attack the new kid on the block. The only positive comment I got came from this webmaster. I appreciated that more than I can say. I plan to promote this Poetic Link because Chris' encouraging words came at a time when I really needed it. This site appears to be for people with a heart. I plan to tell everyone I know, beginning with the large family I come from. Barbara

I am alive and well and living in the dust of home construction, enjoying quiet moments such as this one to sneak off to the library and check in on tPL. I have no computer of my own this summer; no e-mail, no poetry, no critiques, no spell-check I'm afraid, but I will be back in the fall. Things have changed in the time I've been gone, I hope I can get back up to speed. I'm glad to have missed what seems to have been some tumult in the ratings system, but I look forward to enjoying the new-and-improved poeticlink when I return. Hi to all my old friends, Regina

Comment Date: 6/24/2001 12:56amHi - I'm fairly new here (have posted 3 poems) and have read a bunch of great work from other poets...even if there were no prizes awarded, you get to read poetry from up and coming artists who may be famous someday. I have a favorite poet, but he has not posted anything here...I am going to try to persuade him to put some of his poetry on The Poetic Link because it's some of the best I've ever read. Comment Date: 6/20/2001 12:09pmHello, I just wanted to attest to the fact that I looked at the poem and critiquer winners list on June 9, and there were no prizes listed. I was in the top 20 for critiquers and expected to see my 1 credit prize listed, but when the space under prizes was blank, I just assumed that there was some sort of technical problem and it would be fixed soon. I am fairly new new here. I have only been a member since April 2001, but I fully believe that Chris runs this site honestly and with integrity. I feel blessed to have found such a wonderful site. I agree with other critiquers who state that critiquing is a time consuming process. I have taken this month off from critiquing because with the children home from school it is difficult to find the time. By next month, hopefully we will be settled into our Summer routine, and I will begin critiquing again. I didn't realize how much I would miss it. Good luck to all. Traci :)
