I need a new god My god turned over tables in the market... my armies make thunder like zeus and yahweh I need a new god My god remembers my sin... my government keeps records and tapes I new a new god My god lives above and beyond... my neighbors close their doors at night and drive with the ac running and I need a new god A god that adds to the peace and awakens to the flute and joins in dance in the fields of sun. this an observation that man is trying to be god like, in some recent studies I have noticed that the god of Rome and Isreal does not seem happy and that seems strange. There is much beauty in creation why be unhappy?

The title of this poem is compelling, and with the help of your note at the bottom the
meaning rings clear. I have my personal beliefs concerning spirituality, I'm open-minded
and matters of the soul are important to me.....but I stray from traditional strict
religion because of grim and claustrophobic attitude. So many people see God as angry
or unhappy with themselves, like we're always guilty of something or are never good
enough to get into heaven. Must our god be portrayed so menacingly like a parent looking
over your shoulder at all times? You express this well throughout this poem....spirituality
is about freeing your soul, not scaring it half to death. Powerful work!
