Promise of a Fairy Tale Unbeknownst to the smiling face lies secrets others chase, shadows that belong to our Beauty and our Beast. Beauty adores the savage Beast, his horrid, offensive way and sees his heart behind the mask he wears that hides the enigma of an endearing face. Charmed by Beauty, enamored with her intrigue, she promises to slay the wicked that haunts the lonely Beast. Beauty's desire and spirit the Beast understands; her secret, her mystery, a past that burned the gentle hand. One day the Beast lay down amongst the shadows of need and want, aching for Beauty to love what he could not. The Beast let Beauty reach and touch his gentle heart, before he escaped into night's cold and lonely dark. Beauty gazed alone out on the shores of roaring seas, under midnight's watch to angels she would plea. "Find me my soul, fill the empty space. Send away the lonely nights and give me back my Beast." The heavens smiled on Beauty and forgave her forlorn Beast, the arm of trust and truth tore down the walls conceived. One saw beyond the protective glass, the other the coat of need, loving what was fragile in a world of make believe. |
