Lessons

He enters; glad event. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. No expectations in the advent. Soft sounds of past lives waned. Where endings bring beginnings And newfound friendships grow, Where the voice of hope is winning, Though the winds of change are slow, The miles like endless hurdles To the building of the new. Hurt on heart, how it girdles Small steps forward for we two. What flame now loses foothold By a dream accepted gladly. One story's moral goes untold As one heart bows out sadly. Yet, the lessons marked are wholly The risks taken of free will. Be not afraid of growing slowly, But afraid of standing still.
