Love hurts

My eyes found rest upon her... longing was gaining its hold. She used to want me so readily... inviting me o so steadily... as around me her arms would fold. Her body lay naked beside me... midst sheets thrown off through the night. My mouth resists a need to follow... eyes tracing her mounds and hollow... O God, such a bittersweet sight Her tongue wets her lips while she's sleeping... as a smile answers its call. Her breasts rise and fall to her breathing... my wanting is growing to needing... I turn my eyes to the wall What seems like hours of resistance... are but seconds delaying my need. Dare I slide the covers back on her... be blind to this sensuous torture... or return my eyes to their feed. She isn't aware of me watching... nor my heart pounding my chest. my thoughts are confused... to wake her, I'll lose... my eyes are serving me best But tears are blurring her image... reality once again knocked. Pain has reconquered my thoughts... desire's ambushed by the clock... Time to face what the present has brought. Gently I reach out to touch her... her shoulder's as far as I dare. I can no longer delay the task... I need the truth to what I'll ask... Yet I'm afraid of what I'll hear. Awakened, she looked at me startled... knowing where my eyes had stared. She pulled up the sheet... hiding her breast to her feet... with the look of why I had dared Do you still love I asked her... braced for her reply. The answer she knew... was long over due... You know I do, she lied She laughingly turned her eyes from me... Unbothered by my grand stand. I love you, I cried... though wanting to die... sensing the scent of another man Our divorce is now ancient history... But I saw her the other day. She's known many men... dam, some family and friends... I hate you, was all she would say But there once was a time when you loved me... the words slipped off of my tongue. You just don't get it, she smiled... you and I were never one I still hurt but it had been a while  I bed down with your brother and father... And I slept with your cousins, all three You are such a fool...  you thought you were cool... But you weren't man enough for me Now, where shall I end this story What line shall put it to rest  I've searched for a line... that will make it end fine... For fine won't define second best
