Passionately I sat me down with Etymology to sip Passions tea. Latin pati stirred-- how Christ suffered patiently; these two related. Passions in my life I see patience is the descriptor, of passions suffered with no complaint-- a description of my mother. A second sip is Passion-- emotion ruled, driven or angry uncontrolled, reason unextolled. Passions mix here two stemmed: some dark no benefit-- lower brain stem exhortations; yet too mixed there is the drivenness which propels the race toward progress; strong emotional strivings often positive. Love too is Etymology passionate Hearts Desire also new testament perhaps-- Christian images so influence our meanings. Passion's Subsidiaries: Interest, Ardor and Fervor, Strong Feeling and Devotion. All sit with us for tea. How these passions converge here rests on how we prefer our word brews: is it two lumps three or two? How to say what we say Passionately; how to mean which of its possible meanings is the creative mix. Passionate etymologically-- as we all do has it's histories; which intercept what we say and what we can possibly mean. Poets who have words to say mix word teas stirring to light parameters of what they, words time and circumstance can possibly mean Etymologically. |
