SUCCESS

When I am called to leave this world My hope is there will be Someone, somewhere, who will say A kindly word of me. I want to live my life, As God has said I should; To have a reason for being here, And perhaps to do some good. I wish to leave the world A kinder, gentler place Then it was, when first I came To join the human race. I don't want people just to say "She had such lovely things- A home, a car, and pretty clothes, And sparkly diamond rings."  I hope it's said that I was kind, That I took the time to do Something for someone else, And made a difference too. That I tried to give a helping hand To a friend with a heavy load, Or simply gave someone a lift Along a lonely road. I hope they can say I gave a hug To a person who was afraid; Or I comforted a lonely soul Standing by a grave. Or maybe I left a friendly smile To brighten up a day, Or stopped to chat a while, Or joined a child at play. My life will be a success, (At least in my own eyes) If when my life is over A friend hears I've gone and cries. When time has come and I'm no more I wish that once or twice, Someone would say "Oh, I knew her, And she was very nice!"
