Jackie

I thought that I should read her notes   so I could understand      just searching  for some antidotes        to know her fairyland       The pain that I found buried there      was more than just heartache    I cried to know that she’d survived the venom of a living snake She’d been abused by her step-dad He used her as a plaything when she was two he touched her bad How did she laugh and sing? She left her letters lie around so I could see her torment she’d tell me little tiny things expose me to her discontent I watched her as she rose each day her courage just amazed me I saw her thoughts in disarray her tantrums never phased me I tried to never come unwound when she exposed her temperament she always kept me quite spellbound I found her very eloquent She only has just turned eighteen But woman she’s  become I saw her grow from serpentine Full circle,  full spectrum She wrote a letter just for me when Valentine’s day came she said she wanted to be close but she was filled with shame So many times we went around when she would fabricate but in the end we did agree  to finally gravitate I saw a scared and tiny girl  come down off of her shelf I helped her pack, I hugged her hard She’d grown into herself
