Dancing On the Surface of the Sun

Breathlessly, we watched the streets rush by, fading into toneless solitude, until no sound was left. Visions were all we had. Slightly faded, dimly lit pictures of a past, a moment in time when we were lovers and your eyes were calm. Several passing thoughts sped by while your soul slipped from my grasp. You gave no reason, you simply flew away. I no longer torture my thoughts with yesterday's polished possibilities. The pool is deep enough; it needs no more of my tears. Someday, when I can once again dance on the surface of the sun, I may look for your eyes in the audience. I won't expect applause.
