The Beckoning Sea On the turbulent deck he stares out across the rough sea with fear and yet excitement Salty spray hits his face with each crash of the violent waves rolling against the hull Water spews over the wooden deck like a shallow river until it's once again deposited back into the sea A roaring wind quickly changing directions makes him unsteady on his feet He firmly grasps the slick iron railing as the blood pulsing through his veins quickens it's pace at the thought of Mother Nature in all her fury and the perils he must endure He has chosen this life just as his father before him This life as a sailor which keeps him far from home and the ones he loves But his love for the sea has brought him back for countless years now far too many to recall Each voyage he vows will be his last but with the passage of time the urge becomes too strong and he cannot overcome the longing to be at sea As the sun slowly rises he can faintly see his port in the distance and he knows It is just a matter of time until the sea beckons to him once again.
