Doppelgangers

My eyes have seen you Half a life-time you hunted me down The other half scorched by the roar of your voice Burning up out of the ground. I know you came from the other side Roaming the edge of the light, Flooded my vision with your twisted smile And dragged me into the night. Where madmen are caught in your open arms Like leaves you shake out sanity Then make them dance as St. Vitus once did, No care to stop their agony. Instead they wake to find themselves Mute in rooms without doors. To break with the beating of their fists Till the blood runs over the floor. And now the truth of my future, Lies in the dust and defeat. A breathless scream that's caught in the throat, When I hear your hands turn the key.
