HE WHISPERED "BABY" Late that night when we were in our room No matter who did what or how we did it Is not the subject of Candi Statin's tune Or the sweet pleasures when our bodies fit. Alas, we snuggled in to get some sleep That's when this story really begins I needed no fantasy like counting sheep Worries were lost; now it's all wins. His powerful arm wrapped around my form, Holding me against his warm body so tight All pent-up fears from my mind were torn With eyes closed; the world's all right. Unaccustomed to close quarters of arms locked No sleep would come to my limp body. Intrigue and ecstasy are absent a clock Emotions grew quiet as with a warm toddy. With even a blink or two of my eyelash The brawny arm became more strong And I was soothed as he whispered "Baby" And softly kissed me -- all night long. Tho'it's many years since that beautiful night Whenever I hear Candi sing this song Memories from heart and soul rise to light "He Called Me Baby, Baby" ...all night long. By: Jewell Donovan |
