Let Me Have My Say (or) My Diatribe

Rigid thoughts and rigid minds Pervade my every day world It’s like so much laundry I thought Smelly and dirty But most of my laundry makes sense I just separate the colours Working as a Nurse for almost  20 years I find that the rigidity  Is pervasive Passed down from cookie cutters to Future cookie cutters Nothing changes save the names  And faces The humanity seems to have dissipated With degrees Self-image is all-important And that now seems lost with the exit Of the nurse’s cap, starched whites,  And cleaner than clean shoes And the biggest missing element of all is The (Male) Nurse who brings A much needed balance Unfortunately due to being outnumbered The (Male) Nurse will die out and not be missed
