DIFFERENT PLACES Crocuses cut through forest floors As swiftly as the eagle’s beak snatches Torrents of fresh spring rain Wash away winters drudgery Which slumbers for another year At night the arcs of lights seethe Across the blackened sky While yet the winds of war Brings lights of destruction To a nation under tyranny Spring thunder rolls and roils As the earth shakes its disparate Displeasure under the impact From both God and manly made In one flowers bloom, from the other blood runs |
