There Amongst the Asters

I picked topics in Her field of details:               Roses, daffodils, violets, Calvin.               Most of them, as water evaporated               Died in glass vases, cups, and old tin cans.               Some smelled so good and delivered much hope.               Others rotted, as the water grew sick.               When the rains fell I donned a red slicker                And wandered through Her conservatory,               Marveling at the variety, certain                God had spoken. This particular trip                Led me past honeysuckle out into                The heather, where rabbits make mad mad love.                I died out there lost amongst their warrens.                   A grave you can see if you close your eyes.                  A cluster of disasters marks the spot.
