Sky Thunder

He lay wrapped in Mother's arms through the tortured night no manta to defy desert's bite. Creeping sunrise shed light slivers atop earth he was hungry, cold, tattered clothes agape. Mother silently sleeping, he stirred, whimpered a pitful wistful wail. He pawed Mother's dress seeking her breast, kicked and flailed to wake her...she was deathly still. Suddenly, Ear piercing sky thunder, his body jolted eyes frozen wide with confusion and wonder. He wished Mother would wake, render comfort he pressed closer to crawl beneath her skin. Missiles gouged a cobalt sky...scathing sirocco spanked his face, he never heard the din. Aloft, His soul perused the scene below blood, carnage and wind whipped sand re-arranging this horrid show. Mother's black hair framed her smiling face she embraced him no hunger, fear or dread. He was with angels in this hallowed place.
