It Doesn't Matter

I'm screaming but it doesn't matter not with my voice but with my heart wanting you to hear me (but you won't) wanting you to know (but you don't) my rage my sadness my longing for a connection with you I'm screaming but it doesn't matter not with my voice but with my heart wanting you to know I did something right wanting you to know I came out on top my hopes my dreams my wanting you to be proud of me (but you're not) or you just don't try to show it I'm screaming but it doesn't matter with every part of my being needing to be the point of focus needing if just for one moment to feel special (but I'm not) for you to pay attention (but you don't) for you to want to hear me (but you won't) and I am left to question why Why are my screams not like all others why don't you hear mine like I hear yours why is it so hard to just be tender and loving and caring and thoughtful and warm Why does this make me feel so worthless my voice so silent but in my head it's loud why can't I have that certain someone who in my life will give to me their heart their time their undivided attention As if they heard my screams my need my wanting to be special in their eyes and loved above all for just a little while
