Daughters of Sinsinawa

From waiving fields of grain,  and concrete carpeted cities,     valleys and plains,       villages and townships. No sirens blarred,   no bells rang out,     no memos, bulletins,       faxes or e-mails were received. Still the message was heard,   heartstrings were touched,     and the subtle whispers of wisdom       were acted upon. Surrender of will,   led to consecration of spirit     answerering that one true call;      "Leave all you have.  Come follow Me." You learned   in leaving all, you find more;    in sharing all, you receive more;      in consecrating all, you become blessing.

Additional Notes:
The Sinsinaw Dominican Sisters are an order of Catholic Sisters who take vows of poverty, chasity and obedience for life. Sinsinawa is a town in Wisconsin, situated on a high mound overlooking the Mississippi River Valley near Dubuque Iowa. This piece was written on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the profession of vows by Sr. Rosanna Gleason, my 2nd grade teacher, and dedicated to all the wonderful women of the order who for so long have given so much to so many.
