Moondance One night I felt I'd had enough Of playing by the rules. I thought I'd call the Devil's bluff, Along with other fools. I danced alone in the moonlight--- My feet at least were free, Lifting me to a dizzy height That I had never reached. The stars went by without a glance Along their programmed paths. They noticed not my pagan dance, Nor asked if I'd done the math. I teased the waters of the sea When the moom called in the tide. Oh, I tipped my hat politely, Then went along for the ride! Dawn was breaking when I washed in With just a little cry. And no one asked how I had been, Or where, or when, or why. |
