~Knowing...(A true ghost story) Somewhere between asleep and awake someone whispered my name A feminine voice of Quiet desperation Suddenly, I was wide-awake, ~Knowing… no one was there. With pounding heart, I closed my eyes and prayed for slumber. Another night, on the cusp of sleep. The same gentle voice met my ear Revealing a secret That chased away my dreams, “I was raped” she said. My eyes flew open. I was afraid. Not of her but of ~Knowing She was here But not really here Her name was Sarah I just knew, somehow ~Knowing was frightening So I ignored her and slept Attempting to disregard Her presence Her words Hoping It was all Created by dreams For several days I sensed her, the desperation ~Knowing she was searching For something Sarah…. How did I know her name? How did she know mine? Questions haunted me Keeping me awake Wondering Late one night, not sleeping I peered into the darkness There, leaning against the entryway was a figure Glowing, Beautiful Faceless, Her gown flowing To the ground Sarah… ~I knew Still searching Startled I closed my eyes Once again, hoping to ignore ~Knowing I couldn’t Not fearing the essence of her Only resisting the ~Knowing The next day I spoke Finally acknowledging “Sarah, please if you see a light, just go to it. No one will hurt you. You will be safe. I promise you’ll only find peace.” Since then, I don’t sense her No whispers at night No visions glowing in the darkness. Some say, She still lingers ~Knowing... she can never leave |
