RED TENNIS SHOES

A sea of red noses In an ocean of white, Awash in bright rainbows On this wedding night. "Send in the Clowns" The cue to begin, A pair of red tennies Starts the walk in. Patch covered white coat Green pants and striped shirt, Matching red shoes Await in great mirth. Smiles are awatching As footfalls go past, Bouquet of red noses By two hands held fast. A child in white satin And shiny red nose, Leads the walk up the stairs To the clown in striped hose. Two pairs of red tennies Are now side by side, Horn honkin' Dr. Hey You And his flower decked bride. Not a frown in the house As the "I do's" are vowed, Just laughter and clapping From this much merry crowd. Surrounded by warmth In this room full of fun, We share in the magic As two become one. Now placed side by side In a closet once bare, Smile the clown's tennis shoes And the matching red pair.

Additional Notes:
"Send in the Clowns" written by Stephen Sondheim....and no, that is not a typo, it was a bouquet of red "noses"
