Blue Dog

      Blue Dog. ( The Territory Terror ) He was just a little puppy when they found him at the dump, Lying peacefully behind a hollow log. His owners had discarded him without a second thought, To much trouble, to be bothered with a dog. He never even given a proper loving name  And his pedigree, would test a lawyer out. But beneath the mud and prickles was a little ball of fluff, Not a mongrel, but a blue heeler no doubt. As the months rolled into years he has caused them many shocks, And been locked up, more times than he’s had feeds. He has bitten everybody from the catcher to the cops, And been shot at, as is common with his breed. He’s been locked up in the pound for a night or two as well, And the fine was pretty hectic you can bet But at fifty bucks a pop, after just a few short months, You can bet they didn't want to know their pet. He was flattened by a motor car and taken to the vet, He was given to a man down Batchelor way. But his present owner heard of it and headed down the track, Just in time to stop him going interstate He was booked upon an airliner for Melbourne in the south,  All the people he had bitten gave a sigh But being a real territorian old blue dog came back home, To Darwin with his very famous smile "That dog will have to be put down" the policeman told the man, "He is dangerous, he should not be in this town"  Especially on the loose where pedestrians must walk, Go and fetch him, we will take him to the pound",  "You cannot take the dog away", the owner told the police, "I’ve just had him shot and buried in the ground." Then he rubbed his teary eyes and then began to groan As the police drove off old blue dog sneaked back home Written by T Claydon C
