Small Silences

Give thanks for small silences, as hummingbird feeds from crimson cup gentle wind whispers love songs to ferns, and the jay sits silent in the elm. Give thanks for small movements as young roots grow beneath winter snows, bright tulips dance in solemn bows  to springtime’s loving, languorous breeze. Give thanks for small glimpses of chipmunks’ swift chasing in the brush, quick silver of minnows downstream, dark whiskers of mink on red riverbank. Give thanks for small wonders of stars reflected in puddles of rain mist rising slowly off early morning lake eyes opening to sunshine through curtains of lace. Rejoice in the giving of thanks for all In the holy breath of life inspired. Sing praise to God in golden notes to shimmer in the morning air.
