The 68 Year Race I’m a passing lane on the highway of life There have been many twists and turns So many long grades uphill; uphill most of the way Struggles abound, and I’ve taken many bypasses No teacher, no father as a role model No take me to your bosom Mother It’s been a struggle Don’t cry or feel sad for me Rather I cry for those who got caught in my passing Wives, lovers, and children I anguish I will never know will I about the closeness and warmth of a complete family? Searching, searching, for the ripcord in my Freefall towards life; my destiny; my answers… What lies ahead on the blacktop stretching to catch up to the horizon? The miles click on, and I’m no closer to home There never seems to be a finish line Maybe that’s the answer… Just one more passing lane to go… |
