Can We?

Can we ever be just friends? Can we let the past go? I know it will be hard Because I love you so. I know that we must try For the sake of our daughter, But someday she will ask Why we're not together. What do I say then? What truth do I tell? Do I tell the whole story Of how our love fell? Should I tell her everything That you've put me through Or should I leave out the pain And just say that I loved you? Should I say it didn't work? That we weren't meant to be? Or that you loved her And didn't love me? But maybe you do In your own twisted way, But I'm done with the games They're over today. Can we be just friends? Can we let the past go? Can we cherish the memories, And let our friendship grow?
