THE GAP I once tried to fill the gap in my soul, Lord, the one You left for Your own special place I poured into it my self-will, self-indulgence, and self-importance I soon learned I could not fill myself with myself and have anything left Yearning to be poured back into Your special mold of me, I prayed This time I will fill the gap with You, Lord Growing from the inside out as I learn To love You that I might love myself to love myself that I might love others to love others that I might follow Your commands to follow You commands that I might be free to be free that I might love You better The gap is filled, Lord. © 1982 by Donna Saulsman Friedrichs |
