A TEENAGERS SEARCH

I search the faces of friends looking for You, Lord I look deep into their smiles because, You must be there. I analyze each laugh  to find where  their joy comes from. I search their eyes  as I look for Your light... I need to find You out there, somewhere. I search the faces  of people I do not know I can't always read their expressions there are so many different ones. I cannot understand their chatter for it is only surface talk. I don't always see smiles sometimes there are frowns. They are only passing strangers. I know You exist, Lord. I feel Your love. I know You put the sparkle in my eyes, the joy in my laughter. I suppose I think everyone should be as happy as I am. I guess my need to find You In others only tells me  I have found You in myself. ©   1974   by Donna Saulsman Friedrichs
