Could I. . . Would I . .. ?

if but one      stood by Your side           would I                could I             would I           be the one to stand       alone and             love You                 could I             would I          by myself would I      against all the world           choose You                knowing that                     for me, You died                          all alone my heartbeat resounds      Your drops of bloodsweat           as You hung upon the cross                   though I profess             undying love          for You still rings       the question           am I strong enough                to stand for You                      as You stood          and died for me I pray Thee      Yes !         would pass my lips              Even now and            most assuredly then                 in that hour of truth and. . . not that it matters. . . would anyone else...? © 1978  Revised  © 6-7-2000 by Donna Saulsman Friedrichs
