Autumn in Palermo

Wild turkeys flock in their foggy morning dreams; sparrows, cardinals and chickadees assault the feeders; streams, and marshes surrender their autumn steams to disguise opposing shores outfitted in cedars. Shadows shorten as day emblazons this town; streets arouse as residents scurry up and down. Spruce and fir tips pierce the misty valley refusing to disclose their majestic height. Soft moss catches the falling acorn tally as squirrels leap in chattering delight from significant maples and hardy oaks adorned in colorful autumn cloaks. As the November morning slowly expires glistening waterways yield a chilling sight of disintegrating chocolate cattail spires and geese preparing for their lengthy flight. Wrinkles on the lake dance in the breeze attempting to challenge the approaching freeze. A school bus scurries to complete its task decorated with bright red lights flashing through the perennial Daylight Savings mask. Meanwhile, working people go dashing, into their own capitalistic routine to capture a version of the American Dream. From high on Parmenter Hill you can see all nature’s surrounding beauty for miles. It’s a magnificent opportunity to be touching your soul and displaying your smiles to brighten everyone’s day you chance to meet as you walk along reminiscent street.
