Growth

Success is far more frightening Mediocrity doesn’t make me sweat I’ll just string my hammock in the crowd And let them carry me along Still, I would like to be noticed a little Maybe just near the top That’s it! I’ll poke my head up, Get a few accolades for being new Then run back and hide No expectations, no pressure Whew, God knows I don’t belong THERE They’re all EDUCATED! “That guy coulda been good, I wonder what happened to him?” Christ, growth is excruciating I think I’ll take a nap
