TUNNEL OF LOVE

In a boat with no paddles, motor-less, drifting into the darkness of the tunnel of surprises – white water rapids dark gray rapids frothing with white mist at the falls – Victory Falls – falling, but there’s no safety net, only a pool –  a whirlpool with eddies of swirling undercurrents pulling down, down… gasping, splashing frantically, reaching for the light above in vain, passing into catacombs with only black and white photographs on their walls and cold charcoal liquid in which to float –  or not. Voices are shouting horrible dark vulgarities with no tongue or teeth in their hollow mouths. Nude actors and actresses are laying, playing on the ceiling out of reach, teasing, but this is not – cannot be –  love. Your tunnel is misnamed. What a fiend you are with your trickery, enticing the innocent. I climbed into that boat –  how many years ago? And, where’s the river go with no  exit from your tunnel, no sea in which to dump your dark waters?
