Nicholas

I know where you're going old man pink carnation in the band of your old, black hat. I knew when you brought to me Miss Penelope, feline queen of your domain who speaks to you in quiet purrs suns herself at your window pane. You can't fool me old man favorite suit impeccably pressed brown  paperbag in your hand that holds everything you call precious except for Miss Penelope who won't adapt to that  brown sack. You have shared what you've put in there, a picture of your father's face one of your mother's and of Stavaros your robust older brother with the handlebar mustache. One picture of Eleni frail bit of a child a gift from God until she was ten then He took her back again and broke the heart of your sweet Anne. You don't fool me old man I know where you're going. I remember, how you bowed your head gave God thanks for daily bread lived your life in modesty was papa kind to me a child of poverty. The lump in my throat threatens tears. I shall miss hearing late afternoon click of your ebony stick going past my West street door. I know where you're going old man you've heard the voice of your sweet Anne. We'll be all that's left to grieve just me and Miss Penelope.

Additional Notes:
This is a second submission of this poem. Gene Dixon again came to my rescue and caught a computer glitch, three lines after the closing line of "just me and Miss Penelope." I would appreciate another review from those of you that have already critiqued this one, unless of course the original critiques are still credited to the poem. I am not sure how that part of a hidden poem works. My thanks again, Gene.
