Looking beyond

I know the look I saw on your face  It's a look I know too well Of shackled hearts and broken parts And secrets you can't tell you're standing on the outside of the world and looking in At the cruelty and malice, at the sanctity and sin, Burdened by a vision few can know or understand You stare across horizons trying to piece a master plan The beauty of the world you see, within your leveled gaze Strangled by the hands of hate, an innocent betrayed A world of pain, of hurt and tears laid our for you to see Conflicting with the sunshine dreams of how things ought to be You stare at faraway horizons Promising new days And look for light beyond the clouds where silver linings lay.
