Cause and Effect I glimpse out my window on this crispy winter's day to see what is. The color apparent is fog filled gray. Outside, I'm puffing smoke as cold meets warm before my face. Red turns my nose and my fingers change hue, north wind's blowing through. Most plants appear naked, their leafless bony limbs spread bare, hung like pictures upon the misted wall of dismal sky. Through the vagueness I see evergreens burned brown with a frown numbing cold, looking forlorn and fearful of weather's effects that are yet to come. The birds have flown; the plants hide within, leaving clues as to where they've been. I've searched the landscape for a showing of life. And then you grin, inherently your "sunshine smile" fulfills it's purpose: to open the day to the joys of the Sun, that has now arrived. |
