The Cliffs

The waves relentlessly pound the cliffs of stone, Trying to carve out a new void to fill. The sky is bluish black with wisps of white. Wave after wave comes in hitting ther shore, Much like life's daily trials Testing the limits of endurance. The rocks weather each wave as a new test. When all seems hopeless, A tiny ray of golden light Fights its way through the darkness. The hope inspired by the light Makes all the trials seem trival. The light disappears from time to time, Still the waves keep pounding the shore. Nothing has changed. Wait, something is different. A pool of water, calm and clear. The turmoil of the waves has no effect. For just a moment there is Tranquility. Then another wave crashes against the cliff, The pool remains calm.
