Painful Lessons

Sitting here in my bitter winter bits of ice raining against my skin This brewing from not somewhere without but within My cheeks and eyes frozen over with tears Being blown about by frigid fears Upon a glacier I rest my head lamenting upon letting my soul go unfed And I pray for mercy screaming for God to forgive hoping to move out of exist and back into live The wind begins to lessen and the storm loses its grip Ice begins to thaw stroked by the suns golden fingertips My eyelids flutter open to find only a small rivulet of regret Like a string upon my finger- A small reminder to keep me from forget
