Hope dwells within a father's chest It’s dry and brown and crackles as I walk on it The once green peach tree now bears no fruit All has withered, and Awaits another season I remember her smile, her laugh A young kid just blossoming Finding her way I almost lost her one Halloween night Said it was a poisoned apple But she covered up because she was drunk This once gangly kid This once lost daughter grew up And now I lost her I always hope for next year When the green comes back, And my peach tree blossoms Happy birthday my darling child |
