Refuge

I slip the covers up over my head  when I'm abed.  I close my eyes and pull night's shade  down on the day. The lights too bright on planet's stage  to scrutinize  a single portion of any days  harsh proceedings.             Quite bizarre forms the view  in the milieu. Nothing is, as it ought to be  from what I see. Whistle the mumble of Dixie jumble and then you'll know Nothing changes it's by no means  never ever  better.

Additional Notes:
I'm not in a depression! I fear we bury our heads in the sand over environmental, political, and social issues.

and you are right Dellena..we do bury our heads..sometimes I feel these are such large and complex issues that makes ME if no one else overwhelmed and helpless in just being 1 person and why is the government etc no doing what needs to be done over these things or do they really know what needs to be done. I don't think we DO really know. frustration for sure and deep concern for the planet and its people. This was well stated, you got me thinking this morning even though I just got my head from under the covers. (smile) This is a great phrase. "Whistle the mumble of Dixie jumble and then you'll know Nothing changes it's by no means never ever better. "

Hi Dellena, The last poem that I would need to critique this month! <smile> Glad that you are feeling alright. Yes these things that happen around us are sometimes unfavorable and this continues to worsen. Political and social issues can be controlled but it seemed to be uncontrollable. Environmental catastrophes are not that controllable but it's all about taking of our nature that we can do. Thanks for this great message and hope this will serve to awaken each one of us. Jordan

Dear Dellena, Good write, on the decline of life as it once was. I agree with you, one hundred percent. Seems to me, things are being done, backwards, stressful and as you said in your poem, bizarre. Never ever better, is thought provoking line in this poem. How can it get better, after it's gotten so bad? That's the question I keep turning around in my mind, and I completely fear the world, my youngest son, and grandsons have to grow up in. Sure, we can cover up our heads, sink into the protection of our own space, but the reality is clearly stated by you in this piece, and your footnote. Harsh, and so far beyond what we think the norm should be. I enjoyed your version of things, in this poem. Sincerely, Denimari

Hi D, I'm glad you told us you are not depressed but just that you are concerned about the state of the entire world in which we live. You have stated very well how nothing ever changes for the better. Written in free verse you have good word choices and the form is easy to read with an easy flow. Well done. My best, Marilyn
