Dark Day

What kind of day would you say today might be Would it be a day to remember or a day to flee Sometimes we don't think about others around us Sometimes we just continue to run boundless But when sometimes you see there are others around And somehow there faces are always frowned Did you ever think to consider the cause of that frown Or perhaps you thought it made better by your clown Well sad to say no clown will help this frown smile Only the presence of someone trusted after a sober while What kind of day would you say today might be Would it be a day to remember or a day to flee Approaching this mornings cup is all that will tell Long, long ago those feelings of trust ceased to well I try each day to think of what might be made better If maybe I wasn't here or maybe some heartfelt letter But then when that heartfelt letter begins its journey All holds are barred when your evil returns to hurt me My youth where did it go aren't we supposed to be young first Where did my youth go why do I only recall outbursts I will tell you where it was swallowed up whole There where you left it back where we dare not go Those days of my youth I wondered where they might be Now I remember as I look back and see They are all the ones I remember and wanted to flee
