Arnie, I cannot speak to your verse. So much is contained in “day from hell” and your ensuing “blackness”. When you spoke those words- thousands of your other words flowed like memory over me. “Paddled back to life” – well I can’t say I was surprised. I always thought you had a kinky side to you- at least in a circumspect sort of way. As for another chance; there is that- and God has a plan!! He knows those of us that remain here, need your poetic guidance to clarify the earth. He doesn’t care who is irritated- you are a gift to us. What to make of no bright lights? Maybe the coming was brighter than the waiting. Have at your second chance. Somehow I don’t think I will be so lucky!! Glad to see you back. You will be in my thoughts.

Arnie, As usual, a short, terse piece about the realities of life. I have read that "If you're still here, you have something else to accomplish." Seems like a logical answer to the " why all of us are here", but what do I know. Nice to see you back and able to hit the keys. As for the bright light, maybe it's good it has not been turned on yet. Edison's medicine does not entice this heart, but if it brings a few souls a few more moments on the planet, I say bring on the paddles..Hope your recuperation is quick and you are with us for many more years. Peace, Paul

Arnie, This is so powerful, and yet so enlightening. I say that because of the last lines you've penned here..."I guess I have another chance, to do good or what?....I don't know yet...." Yes, what does it all mean?! These questions evoke a considerable amount of deep thought and true soul-searching, to be sure. Love how you singled out the word "black," as well. Extremely effective here. "No bright lights...." Hmmmmm....more deep thought here. For such a short poem, I found it to be very revealing. If this is about you, let me say that I'm glad you are still here with us, and hope you recover fully quickly. I shall light a candle for you, Arnie! You're in my prayers. Thanks for this offering, well penned indeed. Warmest regaRDS, Mary

Dear Arnie, It's great to see something from you, again. Hope you're feeling much better this month, and that you're health is improving immensely. This is you - straight to the point, with no beating around the busy. Is "feeling ill", a downgrade of what you really felt like that day? I imagine so. Thank God, you're ok, that they were able to sustain you, with tubes, paddles, and medications. The meaning lies beyond our imagination - yours, mine and the collective group. If you're meant to do good, you will - in the mean time, just relax, put your worries behind you and enjoy every waking moment you have. sincerely, Denimari

Good morning Arnie and it is so very nice to find your work this morning. You have been in my thoughts and my prayers since I first read of your illness and I have to say though you may not have felt it from the start; you have been blessed.....touched by the hand of God as you passed into the next world and yet jolted back to this one. It is good to be able to put into words what you have felt and I pray you are able to continue adding to your words each day. I am still waiting here in Tully for the words to begin to flow once more and till then I enjoy reading all that has been submitted here on the link. I have a new granddaughter, Molly Irene, born on January 3rd, this area's first baby of the New Year. Mom and baby are home now and doing good. It was a hard delivery for my daughter though.......... You have named this one Come Back Arnie just so.........your words allow the images to flow thus we see you in your stress, we find you in the hospital, we can see the paddles as they are placed and you are shocked back from your personal journey.........you will find out why the Lord called you back Arnie when He is ready to show you; till then may your health continue to improve each day and may each day be a new beginning.....God Bless, Claire

Arnie, Glad to see your pen in hand again. Perhaps it means just that, a "second chance" maybe to do the things you felt you should have and didn't or perhaps just to be here possibly for another, *smile*. I think sometimes we think to much upon a matter instead of just excepting and enjoying what is given us. Welcome back both to TPL and Life-101? perhaps. Lora

Hi Arnie....I am glad to see this poem today. What a horrible experience you have had. In few words you tell us of your near demise. That happened to me once...but no paddles just close to death and I didn't see any bright lights either. I think the movies have over done the bright light notion because if a person really dies they don't come back. When that does happen all of our questions and disbeliefs will become clear and hopefully (as they say) we will be in a better place. Yes you have been given another chance and I believe you will see things much different now...more appreciation for the trival things in life that you never saw before. This is the voice of experience speaking and I know it will happen to you even if you try to resist. Glad you back....I missed you. My best....Marilyn I wrote a poem called "I can hear humming bird wings"...go read it
