A Moment's Day

A moment's day moving into night  streaming horizon in changing lapsing                          color Wrought no more in closing but with                    bird song Simple things brought fantastic.     Winged-backed shapes chase      clamorous clouds unannounced                   by dinner bell While I, my next great thought,     to find love on a supper plate.

Hi James....you have excellent imagery in this poem. Your words do make me pause and reflect at how simple life really is. Days always become the night no matter how we feel or what we desire...the one contant in our lives. However, finding love is not so simple...some fall in and out of it so easy which always makes me wonder how deep their feelings really can be. I like this piece...simple yet quite profound. cheers...Marilyn

Dear James; This work extolls the beauty and virtue of recognizing the simple things in the authors life, like interacting with the environment by witnessing a sunset where a moment's day moves into night... that sliver of time where the sun beams stream over the horizon, creating fantastic shadows and birds, perhaps bats, seem to chase clamorous clouds, while sky surfing for insects, while the author relishes his next great thought, to find love on a supper plate. Extremely nice way of putting it... finding love on a supper plate...more than just sustenance for the physical being, but the committment of partnership for life, which is the basis of making a house a home and a family.... truly love on a supper plate is more profound than a simple dinner... and a romantic meal it is at sunset, for a man who is secure in his surroundings through the love he shares with his soulmate... I like the poem James....the mettle of a poet is shown through an almost effortless ease in making the mundane seem profound and vital... Thanks for this treat, your friend, Gerard

James, This is yummy, wistful, work of the dreamer; a side of you I don't believe I've seen before. Even with all the wonderfully discriptive images you've laid out the deep thinker in you still comes through. I especially liked "While I, my next great thought, to find love on a supper plate", ever evolving you move beyond the box, the confines of what is known. I found this write very stimulating mentally, thank you. Best always, Lora

JCH How simple things expand into seeming eternal. Or at least, calling to be eternalised. The line "love on a supper plate" is risky: seems a bit of a come-down from the peak... ...unless, of course, it is the much-anticipated denouement to the otherwise marvellous day. MAH

Dear James, I like the idea of a love affair with your dinner - (it's sweet) in the eyes of a woman. Days move so quickly - and nights even faster it seems - this I've noticed as I get older. I like the imagery of streaming horizon in changing lapsing color - a defined picture in imagery, that comes to life in the poem. Very nice. This poems shows us beauty, makes us feel rested - and makes me a little hungry. There is a certain calm about it which I really appreciated. Very good poem, wouldn't change a thing. What did you have that night for dinner? sincerely, Denimari

James, Nice, simple, non-controversial subject. Sometimes I like quiet, simplicity. Like being home for supper. Not everything is a big trauma. And the littlest things can be so great. And I'm very pleased with your awareness. My herbalist taught me......The highest education is simplicity. With his studying of health cases, the answers can be so simple. most everything is not as complex as we make it. now as far as government/politics/science thats another ball game.... I'm great at filling supper plates....I can send your cook a few secrets she'll love. Just say the word. Dellena
