Of Diamonds and Moonbeams

A waxing moon                   wakens to paint her slender smile onto the sumptuous cobalt canvas  of a midnight sky lavishly sprinkled with                  twinkling topaz  while mother-of-pearl tears drift down from  dreamland’s crystalline cache ghost trees     no longer crowded with leaves dance in her opaline sheen as winter whispers through lace-lined fingers drizzling diamond dust along icy edges of            indigo streams vague ivory vapors rise like ephemeral phantoms  from water warmer than air it is here I remain         in peaceful stillness savoring   each delicate composition            listening    to unspoken sounds            reveling        in a symphony                      of silent serenity        ~

Additional Notes:
It's been in the 100's here...was just remembering the beauty of a winter's night at 18 below zero...when everything glittered in the moonlight along the river's edge. A vision I shall remember always.

Mary, Again, superlative, makes one want to gravitate toward a canvas and splash your colored pictures there on...ah, such freshness as this was needed for a weary soul...do hope you are putting these into a collection. Namaste' Lora

Mary. Whether it be the moonlight in winter or moonlight everyday, any day, the sky is just as wonderful! Your words are delicious! Your peace and serenity throughout show through. Your heights are in direct opposite to your sorrows. Thats how it works/you know, and you show this om this piece. Peace dellena

Hi Mary....this is a superb poem and one I wish I had written! The wonderful word choices and phrases paints a beautiful image in my mind. We have had an unusally hot summer, as well, and I have found myself almost wishing for the cold of winter. I have tried to pick a favorite phrase and even though I have read this several times I cannot chose one over the other. Your skill as a writer is very evident in this poem. brava and a dozen red roses at your feet! blessings....Marilyn

And a vision you most grasciously created with the flare of your pen, the words just flowing erupting into an icy wonderland glittering in the moonlight along the river's edge. It is all so beautiful poet.....I would hope you would not change one word for it is so perfect as it is. Thank you for posting and I pray your temperature drops enough to be comfortable. We were in the mid 90's with extremely high humidity and for those of us with heart and lung problems the air quality was horrid. God Bless, Claire

Mary, I love how you paint a picture of a scene in the beginning it makes me want to go outside at night and look at the sky. Your use of colors and jewels gives the picture that extra touch making it a perfect moment in time. Excellent work. Thanks for sharing your moment with us. Thomas
