Healing Prayer

Lend to me oh Lord a vision of the after life, A memory I can see to help and comfort me. A place where I can go and only I will know Who I will find there and in your constant care. Lend to me oh Lord a few days without tears, A moment I can find to ease my anguished mind. A ray of light where I can see a glimpse of joy inside of me. A minute without rain and a purpose for this constant pain. Lend to me oh Lord your hand for me to hold, A place that I can find and be free, From this grief that's captured me. A night of perfect rest and the feeling I am blessed, No matter what should come,to know your standing with my son.

Additional Notes:
I've not been up to writing, since I lost my son Shaun on Aug. 6, 2007. This is a healing type of poem/prayer I've written on his behalf - to come to terms with one of the most agonizing experiences in my life.

DeniMari, A lovely, so sad a poem. My heart goes out to you. Look to nature for some solace. It may help. I'm so sorry for your sorrow. Dellena

The loss of a child, no matter what age is most difficult .....a part of our own heart and soul must pass with them so it seems for the void is constant and the pain always there. This is a good healing poem/prayer for you are reaching out to the Lord, you are not blaming Him for the loss and you know your son is with the Lord safe and whole......one certainly feels your pain and your loss within the lines of this one and I pray you find the peace and tranquility you are seeking soon. Please know that your son is home with his Heavenly Father, he is at peace, he suffers no more and he is able to watch over you every moment of every day. He is always within the lining of your heart so let those wonderful memories flow and you will come to find peace within. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your healing process. Prayers continue to flow your way, God Bless, Claire

First, let me offer warmth and condolences. While words from a stranger are hardly a balm, perhaps for a moment a gentle hug and a heartfelt 'I'm so very sorry for your loss', may offer a tender solace. I can not imagine your pain. The poem is rich with your anguished cries. It can be a gift to others in your place of agony. Even in your own despair, you reach out with assurance to others who may be hurting. It is a wonderful thing. It is difficult to step back and 'critique' something this tender. "A place where I can go, only I will know Who I will find there, in your constant care." - perhaps leaving out the 'ands' will make it more poignant. "A place where I can go and only I will know Who I will find there and in your constant care." "Find" - used twice in close proximity, perhaps discover? instead? "Who I will discover there in your constant care. Lend to me oh Lord a few days without tears, A moment I can find to ease my anguished mind." "Lend to me oh Lord your hand for me to hold," - So very tender rich with imagery and hope. "A night of perfect rest and the feeling I am blessed, No matter what should come,to know your standing with my son." - Gorgeous sentiment. Thank you for sharing this wonderfully rich prayer. MSteed
