Those That Kill Their Own

Sunset's scarlet offering    thanking sun's departing To cooling night winds. Death's last rites leave    distant lining trees Gobbling lost light    upon horizon. When to die?     seems indicated Cross to bear?     seems sublimated.  Feeders of death      return on the morrow Lining the trees,     the only sorrow, For a coward deals the blow     instead of nobly swift,                    so slow.

Viewpoint well expressed as always. To me it is not speed in receiving the blow but the fear of what lies ahead yet the slowness made others think and grieve with the bearing of the cross only to be relish in the resurrection when it occurred. Some approach it quickly well others just want to take it slow both have there drawbacks. Really enjoyed reading this for it makes the reader think, title throws me off a little but does not distract from your words. Thanks for sharing as always. Thomas

James, Your imagery for death is (I must say) beautiful. I know, most people would not describe death as beautiful, but death is life and life is death. It is just nature. Rene'

The images in this piece are powerful indeed, and the atmosphere very forboding. I thought your last stanza, being rhymed not as the others was very effective. In fact I could see this standing alone as poetry. Nicely done, sent chills yet a sense of acceptance for some reason..?? don't know why, just did.

After reading this my friend I feel in my heart that indeed, TPL is dying a slow painful death...those who have been here forever cannot believe perhaps that Chris would do such a thing yet.........it is more then evident within the past months........can't say few for we have been deserted for some time now. you have penned it all James and my heart cries with the rest........can you imagine how Mel, Arnie and all those who have already earned their angel wings must be now shedding a tear or two as they also poured their heart and soul into TPL. I still believe in miracles and I am hoping that Chris will wake up and see what he has done to those who have stood by him all this time. thanks, God Bless, Claire

Hi JCH...You have certainly written what is in the minds of all of us. We at TPL are certainly facing death, are we not? Yes, Chris is killing his own as surely as if he were to stab our hearts with a knife. Death is never a pleasent thing to watch and yet we are. "For a coward deals the blow instead of nobly swift, so slow." A poetic statement that deals a blow of it's own. A well written metaphor that holds me in its sorrow. Marilyn
