This Chamber Door Now the night wind begins it howl I know that life has something foul in store for evermore The turbulence of air strikes with darkness, on this jeweled container as I hide within this room, thru midnights remainder listen close, the sound of wings, upon this chamber door will I venture, upon the porch, looking out once more Have lost the need, to keep this mind from drifting the moments fly, as if to do its shifting soon I’ll know what time has planned, upon the road outside the body soon, will take its place, then settle and reside Slowly I make a move and crawl on towards the door Now I stand to take a step, then once again, one more Can I reach the container, that has completed life Why had she not conceded, becoming my lawful wife Now I am by the box, containing letters, from this heart It has the truth within it, just the ending, not the start The wings of a bird of prey, stretch, as they come nearby I know soon I’ll be joining them, within the darkest sky I open the lid of this jewelry box, with the emerald of my life I know I will release the thought, and end the final strife For in the box contains a jewel, upon a single hand Because I venture into life, in a new, yet mystical land I hear the Raven’ never more Upon this chamber door? |
Additional Notes:
I am a Poe fan and never found out why the Raven was so deep? This is my take on the reason.

Thomas,
Very enjoyable, I applaud you on being so clever, I also like Poe. One small nit; L1 "it" should be "it's", anyway it was only a slight distraction for this reader. Thank you for this view of Poe's "The Raven".
Best always,
Lora
