Cycle of a Mother's Love

The love and "Me Too's" we learn As a child carries us through life Tears, laughter, smiles and kisses Gentle touches Mother, forever there to chase Your hurt away Peace and security  Within a mother's arms A gentle yes A stern no Teaching a child Right from wrong All of these are a part Of a mother's love As time passes children grow Roles seem to change Mother becomes a grand and a great The love showed to her children Now passes down A never ending cycle of A mother's love continuing to grow Additional Notes: The hardest words my mother had to say was "I love you" instead we would get a "me too". Mom earned her angel wings four years ago already; still seems like yesterday...In those four years my youngest daughter has presented us with two grandchildren thus a Mother's Love continues to grow........thanks for stopping by and taking the time to read this.

Claire, This is lovely, it shows your motherhood. You were loved, you passed it on to your children, and they to theirs. The never ending cycle. It's good you got a 'me too'. It's much better than nothing. It is difficult to say I love you.......for me also! But with your words, it sounds like you got it down right, you are very blessed. Good job Claire! Dellena

Claire, So nice to see this offerring from your pen. A very enjoyable read with and easy flow of well penned thoughts, a guide we should all use. Yes, children are such a great gift, so sad that so many don't realize it until it is too late. Thank you for this Sunday morning easy read. Best always, Lora

Hi Claire, You have expressed very heartfelt emotion in these lines...the circular flow of love (in this case, that of a mother's) is continual...lov begets love. You must be a very proud mother and a proud daughter too...as you look at your children and reminisce the role your mother played in getting you through life's hurdles....yes. we have much to owe our family's...but thankfuly, they dont expect payback...love is free..and the love of family is often the purest. take care, duane.

It is a very interesting perception of yours here, Claire, to see this love of a mother extending out into other generations, almost "genetically". You lines harbor subtle internal rhyme scheme and lovely assonance, making the reader feel them, "more to the heart" than had they been more seemingly contrived. The lines, "Mother, forever there to chase/Your hurt away" is center to your poem's "ideal" or core. The idealization is furthered in the ending lines, "A never ending cycle of/A mother's love continuing to grow", where it develops into organic promise. Warmth and humanity shines through. JCH

Hi Claire....what a treat it is to see a poem from your pen! No matter if a mother says I love you or just a 'me too' matters not....I am sure she loved her family with all her heart. Losing a parent is a difficult thing to overcome...it takes a long time. You have written this with emotion, passion and great love for your mom. It is a lovely tribute to her and I hope you will share it with the rest of your family. Congrats on two more grandchildren....they are so wonderful, aren't they? Keep writing your poems have been missed. Blessings...marilyn
