Scars of a Lifetime

Why when I look at you do you turn away? My memory shows me loving someone else Your eyes show me harsh reality Confusion illuminates all of your possessions Why when I look at you do you turn away? The sadness you prevail whirls through the air Like pollen on a warm spring day Bitterness has consumed your soul  while you divert others into your world of enchanting evasion Why when I look at you do I turn away? Tears fill my heart with the rippling effect of a storm  beating against a rock bastion Your tongue pierces through me like cuts from a thorn Why when I look at you do I turn away? To grow without the ache of wondering   Michele Rae Mann
