Heaven Holds You Now

I walk this journey through grief alone. With shadows that passed in confusion unknown. The martyrs and saints have battled so well. The Gods that hold session would see me in hell. Yet deep through this walk I'll hold my head high, For dignity can't be destroyed through gossip and lies. The winds will still blow through the trees as they grow, The spirits around me will show me they know. To love in your heart runs through to your soul, and in life keep your sights set on positive goals. I'll look up to the night - as it ends each day. Light my candle for you and believe what I say Tell the shadows of past to stay out of my way. I Love You Shaun Powell, Born through Love, Died in vain. No longer can you feel misery from life's  earthly pain.

Additional Notes:
It still hurts so much, another tribute to honor my son Shaun who would have celebrated his 30th birthday tomorrow. God I miss you Shaun.

Hi Deni....one of the reasons I so hated leaving TPL was the opportunity to read and critique poems by my friends. This poem stabs my heart and brings tears to my eyes. You have expressed your feelings well in this piece and while this will be a long journey back to business as usual, it will come. I still hesitate to write a lengthy critique and I am sure you understand that. I will get better at is as time goes by. I hope you are well.. Hugs.....Marilyn

Deni, As I feel your grief in this well written offering I admire your tunacity you show as you refuse to let the demons of depression and disspear rule you. Your meter is easy flowing and moves well throughout this poem along with the subtle rhymes. I pray that if ever I have to deal with what you've been dealt that I shall be able to deal with it with such grace and then be able to pen such thoughts for others to share. I find no nit with your write, only admiration for the radiance of spirit you present us with. God Bless. TC Lora

DeniMari, Lovely, perfectly lovely. The rhyme is good, it flows well, it's full of love, it's full of pain, it's always hopeful, and his spirit lives. It's a strong declaration of purposeful love. There can be no better! Dellena

Thanks for having the courage to share this and not try to hold it in. This ensures that you are not alone. I can feel the doubt and faith that must ebb and flow constantly within you. I know that grief comes in waves and the crashing Tsunamis will slowly subside. Thanks KenP

To (The) love in your heart runs through to your soul, and in life keep (kept) your sights set on positive goals. perhaps to and keep were typo's? The pain that your heart holds is certainly felt within the lines of this poem in tribute to honor Shaun. His memory will always be within the lining of your heart and you will often feel and share certain days, hours, even minutes thinking of this man you loved so dearly.....taken way too young in life he was...... God would never want to see any of His children in hell my friend; the journey you are on He is right there beside you all the way.......just reach out and take His hand and you will never be alone again. Your words certainly bring forth many emotions, many images and much love. God Bless and be well, Claire
