Spaces

the beauty is only in between us I see across the jagged sky in this place in this space and spaces a bird flies on trust wings spread open to resist the gravity of the sorrow that laces the dew touching the ground a mist settling on the in and unseen spaces growing from the earth's crust not distance not time nothing that follows a line there are no open, no shut cases tripping the mind's eye with tangled shoe laces the emptiness of my heart is filled unlike a whole life of smiling faces no longer running in races I am useful now because of these no longer counting my places I am only known, now, what was in these I have only shown you now pleases preferring, proffering, offerings deep inside known and not traces my tears tread lines on skin shielding, wielding, yielding where it all begins spaces

Additional Notes:
This poem actually belongs before Light Behind Clouds. It's an apparent trilogy: Distance, Spaces, and Light Behind Clouds; now that I look at it. Being in a long distance relationship, there is a lot of time to properly consider all these aspects of space: for myself, for her, and for the love growing in this large gulf physically and in time. In yoga, we say Om Shantih Shantih Shantih, Om Peace Peace Peace. Then, we are silent, the fourth aspect must also be paid it's respect. Only in that space are 'things' born and shared. This is a profound truth that I try to keep in mind in my life and relationships.

from beginning to end you have held my attention and allowed my emotions to surface along with the images you created with the flow of your words......I envy your ability to pen it all so well. the beauty is only in between us I see across the jagged sky in this place in this space and spaces a bird flies on trust Indeed a long distance relationship may be hard on all concerned yet you have showed so many ways to keep the love alive.......God Bless, Claire

Hi Regis....as I was reading this poem I did so with your long distance relationship and with that in mind your words just fell into place for me. You have some excellent phrases in this piece...jagged sky...tripping the mind's eye with tangled shoe laces...also you have good aliteration especially in the last stanza. I hope the seperation from your lady friend speeds by and you will soon be together again. This is a good read. Blessings....M.
