Tobermory Tobermory was a cat, a talking cat. Wonderful...?...! You say...Indeed?!! A prowling cat that could take a walk on tops of fences and eaves where he might see you with all your glory and without he could roam all about while the first question off your lips better me nice I quite insist else my Toby just might say something of pure spite. |
Additional Notes:
I borrowed Tobermory from one of the wonderful Saki's (H. H. Munroe) short stories about a pet cat at a
boarding house that everyone discovers (uncomfortably) has acquired the attribute to speak.
Would I love it if only Alfred Hitchcock could comment on this.

Dear James, Well, I'm not A.H., but there is a deeper feeling to the poem - than just that of a cat.
Your imagery is well done; and believe it or not I have heard a cat "speak", it was taught to say Hello, very distinctly and would say it if the owner persisted. Very strange, yet inspiring to see someone had accomplished this task. I've seen a video too, of a woman who taught her cat to eat with untensils...
that poor cat will be exploited to the max - but it's her life and her cat.
I enjoyed this write - it's simplicity, and story - left me in a relaxed mood.
Best to you, always,
Denimari
